I just realised that while I spend an incredible amount of time in fandom, I rarely speaks about fandom in this journal. So, considering that the only other subjects currently available are the Pope and my panic, I have decided to talk a bit about what are my favourite fandoms and why.

Today kids we will be talking about Stargate

The first fandom in which I got consciously involved, after the MSP debacle, and the only one where I am very laterally involved in some kind of meta (i.e. waffling about mythology. J/D was my first official slash love and I still love the pairing.I like the premises of Stargate, the mixture of history/archeology/anthropology and sc-fi and the characters. Except Sam. Because she is exceptionally badly written. SG1 has given us some good female characters, Janet (I do SO miss her, even if I am looking forward to Lexa Doig joining the cast), Ishta, Vaila, but the PTB have screwed up their main female character, by simply writing her with their hormones and not their brain. CJ wrote Ishta knowing that she would be Teal'c love interest and he wrote her using his head. Why the same cannot happen to Sam?
P.S. My being a slasher is not related to my dislike of Sam. I do not even dislike her in principle, but what they have done to her: pink cashmere twin sets and pearls anyone?

That is why I live in denial. I have to find ways to like her so that I can write her, but it gets harder and harder. I don't even care so much about her juvenille crush problem because I think it's realistic (though she needs to get a grip NOW) but it's her attitude. I mean, she's starting to become selfish and self absorbed. It's interfering with her interaction with her friends. This is a problem. She used to be kind, sweet, and caring, and yet still have this firmness to her. They've stopped writing her as a woman that deeply cares for her team, and made her cold, just so they can emphasis her "love" for her CO. This is unacceptable in my mind.

Um, okay. Sorry. *whistles and walks away*

Sam is SG1 great lost opportunity. They had the chance to make her a real woman, a real role model showing that you can be a woman, a geek and a soldier, and they are transforming her in their blow up doll.
That's why they had to get rid of Janet and why they carefully kept her away from Vaila and Ishta. Because if later season Sam look shallow close to Kerry whatshername, close to a real woman look a right cow.
I loved your Sam snippet because you gave her back her soul, and that's what PTB should do.
With Lexa and Claudia, used to play women who take no shit in Season 9 from the beginning, I am very curious to see how Sam will fit in when she comes back. Especially if they have intention to carry on writing her like that.
