My fandoms
Apr. 2nd, 2005 07:55 amI just realised that while I spend an incredible amount of time in fandom, I rarely speaks about fandom in this journal. So, considering that the only other subjects currently available are the Pope and my panic, I have decided to talk a bit about what are my favourite fandoms and why.
Today kids we will be talking about Stargate
The first fandom in which I got consciously involved, after the MSP debacle, and the only one where I am very laterally involved in some kind of meta (i.e. waffling about mythology. J/D was my first official slash love and I still love the pairing.I like the premises of Stargate, the mixture of history/archeology/anthropology and sc-fi and the characters. Except Sam. Because she is exceptionally badly written. SG1 has given us some good female characters, Janet (I do SO miss her, even if I am looking forward to Lexa Doig joining the cast), Ishta, Vaila, but the PTB have screwed up their main female character, by simply writing her with their hormones and not their brain. CJ wrote Ishta knowing that she would be Teal'c love interest and he wrote her using his head. Why the same cannot happen to Sam?
P.S. My being a slasher is not related to my dislike of Sam. I do not even dislike her in principle, but what they have done to her: pink cashmere twin sets and pearls anyone?
