The comfort of home

Today I went food shopping on the way to work.
I have an awkward relationship with food, shifting from binge eating to periods in which I try to force myself into healthy eating, with great despair of my glucose levels and my weight.
And my food budget. Take for example Pumpkin flowers. I love them, fried in a light egg, salt and pepper batter. It's not a difficult meal, but it's the third time this autumn that I have to trow them away. I got them today too, let's see if in my days off I find the strenght to cook them.
What else did I get ?
I have been craving traditional local food recently so I got Soy sauce. I know soy sauce it's not local, but I like it with my morning eggs. Speaking of which I got some fresh eggs too.
Local is cod in a rosemary batter, one of my favourite comfort foods, that will rescue me from the rain tonight.
Local are as well the pote or cioccabecchi, so local that there is no English name for them. Those bitter herbs are best enjoyed passed in a wok drizzled with balsamic vinegar and served with boiled eggs. One of my earliest memories of my grandmother is going with her to pick them in the fields For generations they have been a cheap but tasty meal, drizzled with lard and vinegar.
Other vegetarian options ( recently I am finding more and more of them on my menu ) are sauerkraut , sautè mushrooms and carrots, sautè potatoes and carrots and that old favourite: oven cooked pumpkin .
Complete the menu Mozzarella and Pecorino cheese.
