Jul. 9th, 2006 06:31 pmFirst of all big congratulations to
cleo1969 and
hawkeye_katy for reaching 1 and 2 place in Sylum's Ryan challenge. Congratulations to all the winners but I am a proud beta for both these talented writers and to see the talent that my Nazi Beta style tries to bring out recognised makes me happy.
The weather was finally good enough yesterday for me to do some damage control on my garden and I was pleased to discover that aside a broken pot most of my plants had managed to survive the storms more or less ok. I also managed to clean the house and finish watching Lost Season 2. Brilliant finale that will get a separate post tomorrow hopefully, tuesday more likely.
We went to the hills today and it was just what I needed. Got some interesting bits (driftwood and stones) for the big changes that fingers crossed should take place in my garden this coming week. I do have an old refrigerator that up till now has taken up most of the room and now I am finally getting rid of it, being able to finally bring together the two halves of my garden (well... It's actually a balcony but while I am not ambitious for myself I am very ambitious for my writers and my garden). Now when I meditate on my garden chair I will be able to see all of my children. I'll post pictures once the work is done.
I took quite a few pics today and I'll upload them as soon as I can. Together with some pics of my sisters (the cats) that I took earlier this week. You will be spared pics of me in my bathing suit showing off my athletic skills and my cellulite..
We went to a really nice restaurant today and I realised that I haven't spoken a lot in this journal of one of my favourite things in life: food. I spoke about me being on a diet and of the fact that for health reason I have now to ban all refined products (sugar, flour, white bread) from my diet, but I haven't really spoken of the upside of this. I have always loved food, and I am always ready to try new things and ways of cooking and one good thing about being on what is basically a no pasta diet is to be able to explore. I always loved pasta, but now i am enjoying pushing my boundaries and exploring things like fish and vegetables that I have always been snobbish about. Today I had some great pork roast and 3 different kinds of vegetables and all were interesting experiences that I am keen to repeat.

Now I am off... Italy is playing the World Cup football final in an hour ( I refuse to call it soccer. If you Americans want to claim the name coma and claim it from the billions of football fans worldwide...) and I do have to do my patriotic duty, even if I have to repeat myself that it is not to trow water balloons on the drunken noisy louts that are already honking their horns...

Date: 2006-07-10 12:27 am (UTC)The food from the restaurants ounds good. Unfortunately, it's too easy to fall into habit when it comes to food.
