I remember that when I left for London, I gave my dad a copy of Bruce Chatwin's Songlines. He fell in love with Chatwin's theory that people can be divided in nomads and sedentary people. He likes to see himself like a nomad, always Inquiring, always curious to see new things, met new people, make new experiences. Choice to go to study and live abroad notwithstanding, I have always seen myself as more of a sedentary, somebody who enjoys building a little nest around her and deals badly with airports, travels, change. Until today.
I was talking to a friend, that I have always considered a much better nomad than me, and telling her that I am planning of doing my MA abroad and she said to me:"You are a real nomad ain't you?".
At the moment she left me thinking, but she may be right. One way or another I am always traveling, be it on the net, or reading, watching a film, listening to music. I am constantly craving to learn something new. Otherwise i get restless. Even gardening I am traveling, learning something new from my plants. And when I travel, I usually do not do the tourist thing, I move home.
