Not your socks. Fic for moonshayde
Jul. 26th, 2005 10:41 amThis is my answer to moonshayde challenge. Her lyrics where:
"You see the world in black and white...No colours or light." from Low by Coldplay
Title: Not your socks
Genre:Jack/Daniel friendship snippet
Disclaimer: The usual, don't own them, don't sue me.
Warnings: No squicks, but it's unbetaed.
Feedback: Craved. It's my first attempt to write fic in a very long time and i want to know if I still have in me.
“How do you do it?”
The simple question stopped Daniel in mid-flow on a detailed lecture on why certain cultures had been practicing human sacrifices, and why the practice, while cruel, should not to be blamed on those who simply repeated gestures established by their predecessors for centuries keeping, at least in their opinion, their harvests rich and their houses safe. After a moment of silence, slightly annoyed to be as usual interrupted by a trademark Jack non sequitur, Daniel decided to take the bait and ask.
“How do I do what?”
“How do you see the grey.”
“Care to be less cryptic?”
“You are able to sit here, with a beer in your hands, and explain to me why it is perfectly understandable that some people are willing to kill their children to ensure a good harvest, and at the same time you have no problem in jumping to my face any time you think that my actions are not “knight in a white armour enough”.”
Daniel’s eyebrows nearly touched the roof. He didn’t know if he was more shocked by Jack actually listening to one of his lectures or by the question itself.
“Because it is my job” he answered, after a second.
“Care to be less cryptic?”
“Your job is to be the white that fight against the black, my job is to keep you white by seeing the grey”
“So you are like my personal laundry service?”
“You can put it this way. But this does not means I am going to wash your socks. Souls only”

Date: 2005-07-26 09:51 pm (UTC)Plus your fic is so small. I tend to write big and long, and I am insanely jealous of anyone that can say so much in so few words.
I enjoyed. You're the only one that wrote me something. Thank you!
