Batman Begins
Jun. 21st, 2005 11:03 pm*No spoilers, read ahead*
I just went to see Batman begins and I have to say that I really liked it. Even better than the Tim Burton ones, thanks mostly to the brilliant casting choices: Christian Bale is magnificent, Gary Oldman brilliant in a part that makes him not only one of the good guys, but the light entertainment to. The rest of the cast follows. Special mention to Ciaran Murphy. Most disappointing Liam Neeson, a bit woody and Katie Holmes: she should stay at home and have Tom's babies.
I recomend it, and I recomend it in a cinema, because it deserves it. I sat still without thinking for two hours and i didn't want it to end...and that's some sort of a personal record to me.
Only downside the three girls behind us. They awoke the homicidal geek in me when one of the trio asked if "Marvel's Batman was like the one in the film".
All in all, a good Summer solstice:
May you all find that your light balance your darkness and that your darkness balances your light.
May you reap the rewards for what you sow in abundance.
Blessed, merry and wise be.

Date: 2005-06-22 06:01 am (UTC)Comic Batman is a character that leaves me cold. I liked the Tim Burton ones because they were Tim Burton films and had some of the best film villains ever, but I didn't get out and think "this DVD goes in my Christmas list and if nobody buys it for me, I will". With Batman begins, I did.
With the insight of the morning after I can say that the difference is Christian Bale. He is more actor than the previous Batmans, and is able to add unknow layers to Batman's personality. He made me care about a playboy billionaire with a secret identity as a crime fighter as a bat. And that says something about how good he is.
