My first meta post
Jun. 17th, 2005 09:27 amI have just made my first meta post in the BtVS fandom. You can find it here:

Maybe we should send Buffy to work with General O'Neill for a while. The Jack of Season S1-S3 had quite a lot to teach on leadership skills. Especially when it comes to unconventional teams.
Then the J/S ship arrived, RDA got bored and all we stopped having a team. Paradoxically the one who in the long run has revealed himself the best team player in SG1 is Daniel. He had all the characteristics for for bad team player: an early, slightly pampered unconventional upbringing, then in the most traumatic way he suddenly had to fend for himself in a world that at his best did not care for him and where he simply did not fit. He has talents that made him stand out from the crowd since day one (and not in a good way): above norm intelligence, curiosity, brilliant lateral thinker, completely open minded, used by life to make his decisions independently and to fight for his rights and those of people without voices.
And yet, he is the one who puts more energy in making the team work: he gives his own life willingly for his teammates, he never gives up on them, even when Jack goes in his "I am the colonel" mode, he is always taking risks for them. He treats all members equally, even Jonas Quinn, and he always comes back to his team. Even when he's dead. Even when the team he is coming back to (S9) has changed beyond recognition.
What does it says this about Daniel? A no-life loser hanging on to the only place he has been able to call home in his mind, or the best team player in the weird bunch?
