matilda36I am a bit of a ranting mood today. I do have three good rants for you, one on suicide bombers, one on doctors and responsibility and one on the referendum campaign (see post below).
There are soooo many things wrong with these referendum (and the proof is that not only the politician who has spoken with more sense in all this is the leader of the face lifted neo-fascist party, but he is being slagged of by his own party for doing it), but the wrongest thing of all is that role that tits have been playing in the campaign.
This is a vote on women's bodies, no doubt about that. So I would have loved to hear the voices of women who are undergoing IVF, or did it, or are in possible need of it. It's their bodies, their embryos that we are talking about, so let's see what they have to say.
Instead we have the usual parade of old skool feminists (that in Italy are mostly the few women paraded around by the left wing parties), scientists (mostly male, except for Rita Levi Montalcini won the Nobel for her research on the brain, is not a reproduction expert and having spent her entire life in a lab, hasn't got a clue about the life of a normal woman), catholics and politicians courting the catholic vote, and...female celebrities.
The most prevalent posters in the entire campaign are:
-a naked picture of a pregnant woman, showing off her big belly and tits, with the slogan: choose life, vote no.
-a picture of Sabrina Ferilli in a low cut dress inviting to vote yes.
Sabrina Ferilli is famous in Italy for: being the daughter of a big dog in the former communist party, having big tits, making some films and soaps, having big tits, having paraded naked the entire Olympic stadium when her football team won the title and having big tits. Now she is the spokeswoman for the Yes team. Now she teamed up with Monica Bellucci (famous for her sexy calendars, her big tits, her bit parts in some Hollywood blockbusters, her big tits, her marriage to Vincent Perez and, guess what?, her big tits) and Simona Ventura ( television presenter famous for having the dress sense of Christina Aguillera, a former toy boy footballer husband, the sense of humor of a male teenager and having bought as a present for herself on her recent 40th birthday a pair of big tits) on the cover of this week Vanity fair, to tastefully show off their big tits and invite people to Vote yes.
If the yes vote wins, it would not be a victory for women, both if you think that IVF improve the life of women and if you don't.
Women will loose because in this country the only argument they are allowed to and able to use are their big tits.
