Chariots of Fire
May. 30th, 2005 10:21 pmYesterday we ended up watching again "Chariots of Fire" (our film choices are simple: "With dad" or "Without dad". To give you an idea of how it works I'll tell you that my father found "The Mummy" scary).
We ended up discussing the motivation of the two main characters. Abrahams running to beat racism and Liddel running for God. One of the presents opined that when you run, you should simply run because you like to run, and that wanting to win it's a target that will always leave your life empty.
I am never been Miss Motivator myself, but I have always admired people with the determination to cultivate their talents and win. That's why I admire Lindford Christie, Jonathan Edwards and Michael Johnson. Three very different people, but three very intelligent, talented, articulated individuals, who have had the determination to win, and have kept it even after their sporting careers have been over.
So I started to think that maybe it's time I start motivating myself, find the guiding principles in my life, and start setting myself little, suitable goals.
Let's see if the witch was right when she said "The day you will really want something, you'll get it."
