I would like to recommend a fiction called Beautifully Broken written by lit_gal.

Officially it is a BDSM Spander fiction, but the BDSM part is an accessory to the H/C part. I can honestly say that while quite an hard fiction, it will catch you even if you usually avoid kink. Kink here is part of what is an in depth character analysis on how different characters react to extreme situations, who have left them more or less broken. This said there is also a lot of love pervading this fic, that keeps the angst just this side of dark.
The reason for me reccing it, it is because she is doing Hurt Comfort like it should be done.
I read too many fictions in the Stargate fandom, where Daniel or Jack (but usually Daniel) is hurt/raped/tortured/killed/inflicted any sort of damage the writers can inflict him, then a perfectly sane Jack brings him home and in a few pages, Daniel is back to perfect mental and physical health, thanks to Jack's loving and perfect psychiatric skills. This annoys me to no end.
First of all, the people who love the victim are usually hurt and messed up as well and very often the people less able to help the victim. Rarely you see a Jack that seeks revenge for what happens to Daniel, or a Sam who is as self-centered as in the show that has everybody comforting her for the damage done to Daniel, leaving Daniel to hurt on his own.
In BB you see all the characters trying to do the right thing, and all the characters making mistakes in their desire to help Xander. You also see how all the characters have been touched by the events and have deep insights on the consequences on a close knit group of people of something like that. I have still to read such an ensemble fiction in the Stargate universe.
But what can I pretend from an universe in which Canon considers Grace a "psychological insight into Carter's head" and has consistently avoided giving us the characters'reactions to Daniel Ascension/Descension?
I apologise for my poor spelling but I have been having an head full of cold for the last three days and it is starting to affect my neurolinguistic skills...
