Pregnacy kit
Oct. 7th, 2011 12:32 pmLast saturday I woke up to a criptic Facebook message from a friend and colleague, C. saying that she had done something stupid and that she needed to go to the hospital.
Very worried because she's young and with a tendency for selfdestruction (drugs and sex mostly), so when I saw her at work I asked her what she meant. She passed me a message "I am pregnant". So after work I took her to a private spot and got the whole story.
Apparently she had spent the whole night on the internet looking for pregnancy symptoms and she was now sure to be pregnant.
While she is somewhat of a blow job queen, she had penetrative intercourse only twice: Once with a condom, the second one where only a couple of shallow thrusts and then she had finished him with a blowjob.
In my old spinster mind, she didn't have a lot to worry about, but I dragged her to a pharmacy got her a pregnancy test, and waited with her for the results. Obviously they were negative. She did promise me that she was gonna go to the doctor and get some sort of contraception method.
This was on Saturday. Tuesday she was supposed to have her doctor's appointment.
Instead she did come to work and when I asked her, she had been on another blind date with a guy she had met on the Internet.
I am not disappointed in her and her selfdestructive habits, I have mine too. I am disappointed in the sex education (or lack of) that has girls sexually active without proper contraceptive measures, without knowing the dangers of STDs. This feels like a failure of the feminst movement: Women enjoying active sex lives, but not doing it with awareness of their bodies and proper education. A blow job in the back of a stranger's car is their idea of empowerment.
