matilda36Because when he needs to understand me he goes and he picks a random book from those I collected over the years and read it to read my mind.
When I left for London it was Bruce Chatwin, and it helped both of us to map our own songlines, to recognise ourselves as the nomads we are.
Yesterday, sitting under an ancient oak tree he told me he had picked up an old S&M novel I bought home when I started getting into erotic writing and i was collecting everything I could put my hands on.
He then proceeded to tell me how he had ended up applying S&M dynamics not only to his own relationship, but to every relationship (sexual and not) I had in my own life (at least those he knows about.)
I told him not to worry too much about it, because nowadays I played only under the Safe, Sane & Consensual rules and that I carefully negotiated the amount of pain involved in every relationship at the beginning.
He was very pleased we are now at a point in our own lives were we can discuss these things in an open, civilised manner.
