Right, it looks as if all the members of my family have survived the trip.

For this a big thank you goes to the Chianti, that in large quantity (for me 4 glasses is a large quantity) has helped me to survive the very cheerful return journey, in which I made the mistake to ask a theoretical question to have a conversation that doesn't start with "I spot a thing starting with..."

The question was: If you were a person  having the chance to start it all over in life, being able to pick place to live, employment, relationships etc. and wanting to live this life according to a strong sense of morality ( for morality I do not mean chastity and similar bullshit, I mean ethical handling of money, environment, social interactions, relationships etc.) where would you start?

This simple question started a bit of a family war, so I thought i'll turn it over to my f-list and see how you would answer...

*evil grin*

I think I need more clarification. Where would I start *what*? Changing things? Are you asking what the ideal life looks like?

*flails* Help!

[and congrats on surviving...;)]

*evil snicker*

Let's put in this way. You are given the chance to change your life for the better. You are a bit of a dreamer and you want to make changes in your life that can cimprove life for everybody.

What is the first thing you would do?

Be born to different parents.

Interesting choice. I thought about it myself, but wouldn't change your parents change who you are at a molecular level, making you a person that is so different from you that you would loose your identity?

You're asking for AU me? Well, I've gotlots of possibilities...

-going to a Catholic High School
-follow my dream of doing FX make-up for film and going to UCLA
-finishing college in four years, then doing grad school, so that I'm doing something else *entirely* now
-spending a summer touring with the Dead
-spending my summers, from 22 on, on the road selling my art

Er, there's a lot more, but they are seem to be about career choices and school. Well, there's the move to Ireland thing..

Is that what you meant?

Yes. I found very interesting how different the choices have been from those of my family.

*smiles*

I think I am more in tune with my f-list than with my family...

I'd move to Cornwall or southwest Ireland. I'd learn a craft (pottery/glass blowing/etc) and run a small shop. I'd buy local produce that didn't come with lots of packaging. I'd sit on a rock watching the sea. I'd install solar panels. I'd switch to a renewable energy source for the rest of my needs.

As for the relationship part... umm... maybe if I met someone special, someone who works on the land or the sea. Someone free from jealousy. A simple soul with an intelligent mind then maybe, who knows ;)

But where would I start - by switching off the lights when I walk out of the room, and the computer when I leave it, by turning down the central heating, and recycling more things.

And by smiling at people when I pass them.
