The first time it happen by chance. He sat in the wrong chair and the world around him changed forever. One day he was a good pilot with an history of insubordination, the next he was the key to the use of some nifty toys. Or better: his DNA was.
Since he had arrived at Atlantis, he had been pursued by scientists wanting him to fix their toys. Or for his DNA to do it. Toys that for most part they didn't know what they did. So, after having used his genes to start something they shouldn't have, they run to him to stop the damn thing before it destroys the known Universe.
John Sheppard was growing more and more tired of it all. He felt like an object, a key to switch the Universe on and off. He longed for the days in which he could simply be a good pilot with an history of insubordination.
Then he looked at Rodney's eyes shining while he was getting more and more excited about some toy or another and he was happy to be the key that could bring that shine in his friend's eyes.

moonshayde . You are a great friend...
General O'Neill was watching out of his office window. He could see the change in the weather. The first timid leaves, some brave patches of green, the dancing wind of March playing tricks on the busy looking Washington people. Spring was coming, and he was restless. Even his knee was feeling it. He opened his desk drawer and his hand automatically found his yo-yo. And his eyes travelled to the picture on the wall. His team. He missed them. He missed the big Jaffa, his devotion and his loyalty, Sam with her double identity, the warrior and the scientist brought together in her femininity. And he missed Daniel. Daniel, who had rescued him in his darkest hour. Daniel who had changed him in more ways he would ever admit. Daniel...who just in that moment knocked on the door and peaked inside, blue eyes sparkling behind the glasses: “Want grab some lunch?”.
Daniel whose perfect timing could rescue him from everything: Jaffas, despair and paperwork.

Date: 2006-04-19 05:36 am (UTC)I am glad it helped...hope your knights behaved. I like writing John he's so cool, with unexpected depths. A lot like Don Flack in some respects.
*Looks at sudden Don/John Sheppard bunny that has appeared on my desk. What if they had grew up together? Maybe gone to college before Sheppard joined USAF...*
Do you want it? Or should I put it up for adoption?
