Tube strike (Rant alert!)
Jun. 29th, 2004 08:04 amA tube strike starts at 6:30pm tonight to end tomorrow at the same time (but the effects will not go away until thursday morning). The consequences have already started to be felt. This morning there wasn't a seat on the tube available at Finsubury Park (usually a safe bet at that time in the morning. Bob Crowe and his cronies seriuosly piss me off. They want more money? A better pension? Well I've got news for you: you are already making more money that the average person in Britain to do an easy job. Standing on a platform (or better by a tube gate) all day, chatting to cronies, reading the paper and absolutely not intervening when they should: on Friday two men had a very aggressive argument all the way through Seven Sisters Station and no one intervened. I can understand the passengers, but I thought that ensuring a peaceful & safe journey was part of LU staff job?
Honestly I am disgusted by the Unions in this country. From their behaviour towards women to their protection of drunks, people who use sick leave as extra holiday, and bullies, to their habit of calling strikes wihtout realising the consequences for ordinary people, I still have to see anything from them to protect workers (as in people who work hard and do their duty).
Tonight, tomorrow my anxiety will shoot off the scale and because of my conditions I will suffer the consequences of the arrogance of other people. This hurts me deeply. I need my society to take care of me.
