Work and transport
Jul. 28th, 2007 07:38 pmJust back from my first shift in paid emplyment in over 2 years.(and no teaching doesn't count because tutoring is a) fun b) I do it at home)
And it feels good.I was able to relate to people, both colleagues and costumers and that was my major concern and one of the reasons why I took the job.I realised that I was becoming a bit of an hermit and while having an online life is really good, you need a RL too.
And mine was reduced to
a) my alien father
b) my crazy neighbours
c) my students
d) my friend Manu.
To be a good teacher you need to be able to relate to people, and a retail job was the best way to work on that skill. At the moment my brain is full of numbers and horses and new jargon, but I am going in perkier tomorrow.
A very good discovery was the bus stop that takes me straight from home to work and viceversa. It's going to come handy when it rains or if my bicycle breaks down again. Speaking of which today I gave up and called the bicycle repair man. He's coming onM onday so my baby is going to be fixed by my first nightshift. Fingers crossed.
