When I grow up I wanna be...

...a teacher?
*headdesk*
I discovered this morning that I have time until June to apply for Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) for Secondary Schools for September entry.
The incentives are pretty good, I know I am enjoying teaching more and more and it would give me the chance to go back to a civilised country. All I need are good references.
And yet I am scared witless.
Please tell me in details why this is a bad idea?

Date: 2007-03-26 06:29 pm (UTC)*hugs* The incentive package is good. My aunt is a headmistress and insists on trying tot alk me into teaching. She cannot grasp the concept that I would rather spork my own eyes out than deal with teenagers and that I'd need intravenous coffee to deal with younger ones. If I had got my MA and was working on my phd like I planned it would be different. University age people I can cope with :)
It sounds like a good idea to me because you're be coming over here like you want. Or you could go to Ireland - they're like us only without Blair and with even more beautiful countryside. And Guinness

Date: 2007-04-03 11:17 pm (UTC)I taught for a year and a half in Walsall and it nearly gave me a nervous breakdown.
The kids were foul, and the other teachers, on the whole, were equally obnoxious.
But I think I made the mistake of taking the first job I was offered, in a school where I was clearly not going to fit in.
I used to like teenagers before I became a teacher ... teaching made me hate some of them.
